Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients rapidly and thoroughly to identify safety needs and clinical diagnoses
• Develop individualized plans of care and implement interventions in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Provide patient and family education with empathy and clarity to support recovery
• Use de-escalation techniques and therapeutic communication to maintain a safe environment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and transitions
• Document assessments, plans, and outcomes accurately and on time to meet DNV and facility standards
• Evaluate and refine nursing practice, contributing to quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Current Montana Registered Nurse (RN) license — required
• American Heart Association BLS — required
• American Heart Association ACLS — required
• Experience in Psychiatric Emergency Nursing and de-escalation skills — highly desired
• Comfort working primarily night shifts and being available for on-call rotations
• Ability to safely lift and assist patients (up to 50 pounds) and stand or walk for extended periods
• Strong emotional intelligence, professionalism, and ability to work in high-stress environments

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred)

• Patient assessment and clinical judgment in behavioral health crises
• Care planning and plan implementation tailored to psychiatric emergency needs
• Effective, compassionate communication with patients, families, and team members
• Confidentiality, ethics, and adherence to professional standards
• Interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork
• Familiarity with DNV requirements and timely completion of required education
