Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative care to surgical patients in the operating room
• Prepare the OR by ensuring sterile technique and readiness of instruments and equipment
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs to coordinate patient care
• Assess patient status before, during, and after procedures and intervene as needed
• Document accurate perioperative records and communicate handoffs clearly
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives within the OR

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
• Operating Room experience (preferred) — demonstrated perioperative skills
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS/CNOR preferred if available
• Strong teamwork and communication skills in fast-paced surgical environments
• Ability to follow sterile technique and hospital policies consistently

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough understanding of sterile technique and perioperative infection control
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation, OR workflows, and patient positioning
• Patient assessment and monitoring skills under anesthesia and in recovery
• Effective verbal and written communication for clear handoffs and documentation
• Comfortable working with electronic medical records and perioperative documentation systems
