Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: 12-hour Night shifts, typical start times between 04:00 PM - 07:00 PM (e.g., a 12-hour night shift might run 04:00 PM - 04:00 AM), rotating nights including every-other-weekend (EOW), self-scheduling by seniority; approx. one call day per month
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $77 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess, triage and stabilize high-acuity emergency and trauma patients quickly and effectively
- Lead and participate in resuscitations and critical interventions for trauma, stroke and pediatric emergencies
- Manage ventilated patients and perform advanced airway/ventilator management as needed
- Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias — you’ll take a proctored dysrhythmia test on day one (pass/fail)
- Chart accurately and efficiently in Cerner to ensure clear, timely patient records
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including RT, pharmacy, hospitalists and intensivists (all available 24/7)
- Support unit flow in a fast-paced ER environment caring for a high daily census
- Step into charge/lead roles when scheduled (charge nurses do not carry patient assignments)
Qualifications
- Current RN license (able to practice in California)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in emergency/critical care or other specialty high-acuity setting
- ACLS and BLS required; PALS and NIHSS required; TNCC preferred
- Demonstrated experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia recognition and ventilator management
- Comfort using Cerner (EMR) and familiarity with GE telemetry systems a plus
- Level II trauma experience preferred — high-volume ER/trauma experience strongly preferred
- Travel experience preferred; ability to adapt to a busy, team-focused environment
- Willingness and ability to pass an on-site proctored dysrhythmia test on day one
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN not required
- Active RN license in California
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing and trauma care expertise
- Telemetry and dysrhythmia recognition
- Ventilator management and critical care skills
- Stroke and pediatric emergency care knowledge
- Ability to work effectively with EMT techs and multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with Cerner charting and acute care workflows
- Strong prioritization, assessment, and rapid decision-making skills
- Leadership and charge nurse capabilities when assigned
