Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor step-down patients, responding to changes in condition with clinical confidence
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
• Interpret telemetry and other monitoring data to guide timely interventions
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to coordinate safe, patient-centered care
• Provide clear education and compassionate support to patients and families
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives
• Maintain accurate electronic health records and complete required documentation promptly
• Respond to emergencies and escalate concerns to providers when needed

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana
• BLS certification required; ACLS and other critical-care certifications preferred
• Experience caring for higher-acuity or step-down/telemetry patients preferred
• Comfortable working 12.5-hour clinical shifts and collaborating in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively on interdisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Patient assessment and prioritization for higher-acuity care
• Medication administration and IV therapies
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and strong situational awareness
• Patient and family education with clear, compassionate communication
