Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care in the Emergency Department
• Rapidly assess, triage and stabilize patients with acute and urgent needs
• Collaborate with physicians, techs and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Document patient assessments, interventions and response in the medical record
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to facility protocols
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and follow-up plans
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required (Hawaii RN license or authorization to practice in Hawaii)
• Experience in Emergency Nursing or similar acute care setting preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) encouraged or required per facility
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and prioritization skills
• Current immunizations and required health screenings as per facility policy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in triage and rapid assessment of critically ill or injured patients
• Comfortable with emergency procedures, monitoring and emergency medications
• Ability to work calmly in high-acuity, fast-paced environments
• Clear communication and teamwork skills with multidisciplinary staff
• Competence with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
