Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, helping with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming)
- Assist with mobility and safe transfers to promote independence and prevent falls
- Take and record vital signs and report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Document care accurately and promptly in resident charts or electronic records
- Support individualized care plans and participate in team meetings to coordinate excellent care
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control procedures
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful communication
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (Connecticut certification preferred)
- State registration as required for CNAs working in Connecticut
- Basic life support (BLS/CPR) preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings (TB, immunizations)
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Compassionate patient-centered approach and reliable attendance
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an accredited CNA training program and current certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and personal care
- Basic vital signs and clinical observation skills
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
- Good documentation practices and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills for resident and family interactions
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based setting
