Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, helping with activities of daily living
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility to promote dignity and independence
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
• Document care accurately and timely to maintain clear communication across the care team
• Help create a warm, respectful environment that encourages social engagement and comfort

Qualifications

• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification in good standing
• Current basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable working with older adults and supporting their physical and emotional needs
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff
• Reliable, compassionate, and patient-focused — previous long-term care experience preferred

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification (state-required) — proof of certification required at hire

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Basic understanding of infection control and hygiene best practices
• Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition accurately
• Effective interpersonal skills with residents and families
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
