Shift Type: Clinic: 4x10-hour shifts or 5x8-hour shifts (day shifts; exact start/end times vary by clinic) plus 24-hour hospital call two weeks per month on a 1:2 call rotation (hospital call covers inpatient consults and admissions).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality adult and geriatric rheumatology care in clinic and via hospital consults
• Perform joint aspirations and corticosteroid injections safely and efficiently
• Manage inpatient consults and 24-hour hospital call coverage during assigned call weeks
• Document patient encounters and care plans using Epic EMR for clear team communication
• Collaborate with MA, RN, and front desk staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
• Maintain continuity of care for complex rheumatology patients and communicate with multidisciplinary teams as needed
• Help sustain clinic flow while delivering attentive, evidence-based treatment

Qualifications

• Board-certified in Rheumatology
• Fellowship-trained in Rheumatology
• Proven experience providing adult and geriatric rheumatology care, including joint aspirations and injections
• Comfort and experience with hospital-based consults and 24-hour call responsibilities
• Experience using Epic EMR
• Experience working with and supervising MA and RN support staff
• Locum tenens experience is a plus

Education

• Medical degree (MD or DO) and completion of a Rheumatology fellowship
• Board certification in Rheumatology

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical expertise in rheumatologic conditions across adult and geriatric populations
• Procedural skill in joint aspiration and corticosteroid injection techniques
• Familiarity with Epic EMR workflows and documentation best practices
• Ability to manage inpatient consults efficiently in a Level 2 trauma hospital environment
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills with nursing and support staff
• Triage and acute management skills for hospital consults
