Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) to support resident independence and dignity
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and resident interactions
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and team members
- Build warm, respectful relationships with residents and their families
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
- Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited GNA program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and ADLs
- Ability to safely assist with transfers and use mobility aids
- Familiarity with documentation practices in a care setting
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Understanding of infection control and safety procedures
