Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered occupational therapy interventions to help clients regain independence
• Implement treatment plans under the direction of the supervising OTR to meet functional goals
• Conduct assessments and document progress clearly and timely in the medical record
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to ensure cohesive care
• Train and educate patients and caregivers on adaptive strategies and safe techniques
• Contribute to a positive, recovery-focused environment that celebrates patient progress

Qualifications

• Current COTA certification (Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant) required
• Active state authorization to practice in California (as applicable)
• Strong communication skills and ability to document thoroughly and efficiently
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced rehab/contract facility environment
• BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Professional demeanor, reliability, and a collaborative mindset

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic activities, ADL retraining, and adaptive equipment recommendations
• Knowledge of safety, transfer techniques, and fall prevention strategies
• Ability to perform accurate patient assessments and modify treatment plans
• Proficient with clinical documentation and electronic health record systems
• Strong patient and family education skills with a focus on functional outcomes
• Teamwork and effective interdisciplinary communication
• Time management and caseload prioritization
• Problem solving and creativity in adaptive solutions
