Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered occupational therapy interventions to help clients regain independence
- Implement treatment plans under the direction of the supervising OTR to meet functional goals
- Conduct assessments and document progress clearly and timely in the medical record
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to ensure cohesive care
- Train and educate patients and caregivers on adaptive strategies and safe techniques
- Contribute to a positive, recovery-focused environment that celebrates patient progress
Qualifications
- Current COTA certification (Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant) required
- Active state authorization to practice in California (as applicable)
- Strong communication skills and ability to document thoroughly and efficiently
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced rehab/contract facility environment
- BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Professional demeanor, reliability, and a collaborative mindset
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic activities, ADL retraining, and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Knowledge of safety, transfer techniques, and fall prevention strategies
- Ability to perform accurate patient assessments and modify treatment plans
- Proficient with clinical documentation and electronic health record systems
- Strong patient and family education skills with a focus on functional outcomes
- Teamwork and effective interdisciplinary communication
- Time management and caseload prioritization
- Problem solving and creativity in adaptive solutions
