Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate residents' speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function using evidence-based assessments
- Develop and implement individualized, measurable treatment plans that improve quality of life
- Collaborate with nursing, rehab team members, and families to coordinate care and set meaningful goals
- Document evaluations and progress notes promptly and accurately to support continuity of care
- Provide skilled therapeutic interventions and caregiver education to maximize resident independence
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to resident care planning
Qualifications
- Licensed or license-eligible Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) — state licensure requirements apply
- ASHA CCC-SLP recognized (CCC indicated in job title/requirements)
- Open to clinicians at all experience levels, including new graduates
- Experience or comfort working in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) setting is a plus
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in instrumental and bedside dysphagia management and safe swallowing strategies
- Proficient in speech, language, cognitive-communication assessment and therapy techniques
- Comfortable with resident-centered plan development and outcome-driven documentation
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and clinical teams
- Time management and organizational skills to balance caseload and documentation
