Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate critical care to adult ICU patients, prioritizing safety and quality
• Assess, monitor and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions using evidence-based practice
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists and multidisciplinary team members to implement care plans
• Administer medications, manage infusions and titrate vasoactive/drip therapies per protocol
• Perform and document thorough patient assessments, including neurological checks and hemodynamic monitoring
• Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical readiness
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and families during high-stress situations
• Contribute to unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license valid for practice in Iowa
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications required
• Completion of Trinity specialty competency testing and Trinity skills checklist
• Successful completion of license/certificate verification, background screening and drug testing
• Up-to-date immunizations and health requirements (Fit Test, Tdap, COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, PPD/IGRA, Varicella, physical/health statement)
• Comfort and experience working in a high-acuity ICU environment; strong critical thinking and teamwork skills
• Willingness to work every third weekend and every other holiday as scheduled

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in critical care monitoring and interpretation of hemodynamic data
• Experience with ventilator management and mechanical ventilation basics
• Skillful medication administration and infusion management in ICU settings
• Strong assessment skills for rapid recognition of clinical deterioration
• Excellent clinical documentation and electronic health record usage
• Effective communication and teamwork in multidisciplinary critical care teams
• Ability to follow hospital protocols, competency checklists, and specialty testing requirements
