Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care for residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Support safe transfers, mobility assistance, and fall prevention efforts
• Maintain accurate documentation of care, vitals, and observations
• Create a warm, respectful environment that preserves dignity and independence
• Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) program
• Current GNA certification or equivalent as required by Maryland
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Demonstrated compassion and experience working with older adults preferred
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA program required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic nursing assistant duties and resident care standards
• Comfortable with ADLs: bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance
• Familiarity with infection control, safety protocols, and proper documentation
• Competent taking and recording vital signs and observing changes in condition
• Good time management, observational skills, and empathetic bedside manner
