Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care services to the assigned patient population
• Perform thorough patient assessments, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans
• Prescribe and manage medications safely, following appropriate protocols
• Coordinate care with nursing staff and specialty services to ensure continuity
• Document patient encounters accurately in the medical record
• Participate in orientation and training activities to align with facility policies
• Contribute to a culture of safety, respect, and high-quality clinical care

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required
• Active California medical license or eligibility to obtain one promptly
• Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine preferred
• Current DEA registration or ability to obtain DEA controlled substance registration
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Experience in primary care settings; experience with correctional or institutional medicine is a plus
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• MD or DO
• Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of primary care diagnosis and treatment guidelines
• Skilled in chronic disease management (diabetes, hypertension, COPD, etc.)
• Proficient clinical documentation and charting practices
• Ability to triage and manage acute complaints in an outpatient/institutional setting
• Strong interpersonal skills and patient-centered communication
• Comfort working within established protocols and electronic health record systems
