Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, treating each person with dignity and respect
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, mobility)
• Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Document care, observations, and any resident concerns accurately and timely
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Help create a warm, home-like environment and engage residents in social activities

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working with older adults and skilled at providing basic personal care
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills — you’ll coordinate with nurses and facility staff
• Ability to follow care plans and facility policies; attention to detail is a must
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to resident-centered care

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling
• Familiarity with infection control and basic safety procedures
• Basic documentation and charting skills
• Strong observational skills to notice changes in condition
• A caring bedside manner and ability to build rapport with residents and families
