Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric patients, assisting with activities of daily living
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff in a timely manner
• Assist with safe patient transfers, mobility, and positioning to promote comfort and independence
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure dietary needs and preferences are respected
• Maintain accurate documentation of care and communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary team
• Contribute to a clean, safe, and respectful patient environment following facility protocols

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent in the state
• Active listing on the state nursing assistant registry if required
• Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Clean background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
• Comfortable assisting with mobility and transfers; able to follow care plans
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-first attitude

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, feeding assistance, ADL support
• Ability to follow infection control and safety protocols
• Effective teamwork and communication with nurses, therapists, and families
• Time management and documentation skills to keep charts accurate and current
