Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive overnight sleep studies with care and attention to detail
• Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot polysomnography equipment for accurate data collection
• Monitor patients throughout the night, ensuring safety, comfort, and protocol adherence
• Score and analyze sleep data and prepare clear documentation for the supervising technologist
• Implement and assist with sleep interventions under general supervision
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure HIPAA-compliant data handling
• Communicate findings and patient concerns to the sleep technologist or facility director
• Contribute to a patient-centered environment that promotes restorative sleep and clinical excellence

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Certificate or training in polysomnography or related field preferred
• RPSGT or CPSGT certification preferred but not always required; facility may accept on-the-job training
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by facility
• Experience with sleep testing, sleep analysis, and sleep interventions a strong plus
• Ability to work overnight/night shifts reliably and maintain patient-focused care
• Strong attention to detail, good clinical judgment, and clear communication skills

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Postsecondary certificate or associate degree in polysomnography or related health field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on knowledge of polysomnography equipment and overnight monitoring
• Ability to score and interpret sleep study data accurately
• Familiarity with EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG lead placement and signal quality
• Basic troubleshooting and equipment maintenance skills
• Documentation skills and comfort with electronic medical records
• Understanding of patient safety, infection control, and HIPAA rules
• Teamwork and professional communication with supervising technologists and clinical staff
