Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough pre-procedure assessments including vitals, allergies, labs and history, and educate patients to obtain informed consent
• Administer moderate sedation and continuously monitor patient response throughout procedures
• Maintain a sterile field and assist with catheter insertion and interventional devices
• Monitor cardiac rhythm and hemodynamics, recognizing and responding to changes quickly
• Provide focused post-procedure recovery care, assess access sites and coordinate discharge planning
• Document assessments, medications, interventions and outcomes accurately in Cerner/EMR
• Respond to emergencies and participate in ACLS protocols during codes and rapid decompensation
• Collaborate closely with cardiologists, anesthesia, techs and the interdisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (California) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in cath lab/EP or acute cardiac care
• Comfortable caring for critically ill patients and managing peripheral and coronary circulatory cases
• Experience with cath lab/interventional procedures and familiarity with devices such as Impella, IABP, IVUS, FFR, Rotablator, AngioJet is highly valued
• No first-time travelers; prior travel/contract experience preferred
• Familiarity with Merge Hemo and Cerner EMR is a plus

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or BSN preferred
• BSN not required but encouraged

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and pre-procedure preparation
• Procedure support including sterile technique and catheter insertion assistance
• Moderate sedation administration and patient monitoring
• Cardiac rhythm monitoring and hemodynamic assessment
• Post-procedure recovery care and access site assessment
• Accurate EMR documentation (Cerner) and Merge Hemo exposure
• Experience with Phillips and Siemens imaging suites
• Comfort with advanced interventional devices and electrophysiology lab workflows
