Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate, and continuously improve the LTC QAPI program to drive measurable clinical quality gains
- Plan and direct quality assurance activities, including project leadership and staff education/coaching
- Coordinate accreditation readiness and regulatory surveys and ensure CMS compliance
- Conduct chart audits, collect and analyze outcome data, and identify performance improvement opportunities
- Develop and implement action plans to address deficiencies and maintain tracking systems for recommendations
- Facilitate root cause analyses, manage Datix events and incident investigations in collaboration with Risk Management
- Organize and facilitate quality committee meetings, maintain minutes, and report recommendations to Administration
- Review and write/revise policies, procedures, survey reports, and facility-wide assessments
Qualifications
- Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska required (direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date; agency staff must have an active Alaska license)
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or QAPI Certified Professional (QCP) or other LTC quality certification obtained within the last 3 years (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association required
- Clinical Competency Assessment (SEARHC) required
- Minimum 2 years of experience monitoring quality and regulatory requirements, planning, and coordinating improvements
- Proven leadership in facilitating cross-functional teams and working collaboratively across disciplines
- Preferred: prior Long Term Care experience
- Willingness and ability to travel at least 30% for site visits and surveys
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep familiarity with QAPI, quality assurance/improvement, and regulatory compliance (including CMS)
- Experience with accreditation readiness across long-term care and related settings
- Proficiency in data collection, analytics, and presentation to drive improvement decisions
- Skilled in chart audits, chart review, and extraction of clinical data
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to lead groups, facilitate committees, and coach staff
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and electronic event reporting (Datix)
