Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for burn, trauma and surgical ICU patients in a 30-bed unit
• Perform advanced wound care, manage external ventricular drains and support massive transfusion protocols when needed
• Respond decisively to codes and emergency situations to stabilize patients and support the team
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and multidisciplinary staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
• Document care accurately in Meditech and communicate clear handoffs between shifts
• Educate patients and families with compassion and clarity during stressful times
• Float to MSICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU or PCU as needed to maintain optimal staffing and patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (TX) required
• Minimum 1 year of ICU experience (Trauma, Burn or Surgical ICU experience required for consideration)
• Required certification: RN (state license); BSN preferred
• Preferred certifications: CCRN or other critical care credentials
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills; comfortable in high-acuity environments

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN preferred; ADN or diploma nurses with strong ICU experience will be considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in critical care and trauma/burn management
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic medical record
• Skilled in wound care, EVD management, massive transfusion protocols and code response
• Ability to work effectively in team-based settings and provide clear, calm leadership during emergencies
• Familiarity with ICU patient ratios and high-acuity equipment
