Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to oncology and women's surgical patients on the unit
• Administer medications and manage complex chemo-related care following protocols and safety practices
• Monitor patient status, interpret clinical data, and escalate changes promptly to the interdisciplinary team
• Document care accurately in Cerner to ensure continuity and clear communication across shifts
• Collaborate with RNs, CNAs, HUCs and physicians to maintain safe patient ratios and smooth shift handoffs
• Perform unit procedures as needed (occasional pelvic exams, assist with echo and thoracentesis) while prioritizing patient comfort
• Participate in unit-based policies, contribute to quality improvement, and model teamwork and a positive attitude

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (state of practice) — required
• BLS certification — required
• Minimum ~2 years of clinical nursing experience (experience in oncology or med-surgical preferred)
• Chemo certification — preferred (candidates with this will be considered first)
• Comfortable with Cerner or similar EMR systems
• Ability to work overnight shifts and scheduled weekends; team-player attitude and willingness to learn

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills, including oncology protocols
• Familiarity with med-surgical care and patient ratios (typically 1:4 or 1:5 on this unit)
• Experience with Cerner electronic medical record documentation
• Skill performing/supporting procedures such as pelvic exams, echo support, and thoracentesis
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time-management abilities in a fast-paced hospital setting
