Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform initial triage and full assessments for urgent care patients of all ages, prioritizing needs and managing patient flow
• Provide telephone triage and self-care guidance when needed, documenting assessment and advice
• Administer medications via oral, topical, IM, SQ, intradermal and IV routes, and manage IV initiation, maintenance, and discontinuation
• Document assessments, interventions, patient education and follow-up plans accurately in the EMR
• Coordinate referrals and track outcomes, serving as a primary link with case managers and referral coordinators
• Maintain infection control standards, ensure supply/equipment readiness, and report safety hazards promptly
• Serve in vaccine coordinator duties as assigned and participate in departmental improvement initiatives
• Respond to emergencies, participate in shared governance, and support cross-coverage across nursing roles

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and eligible to take NCLEX
• Current full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Clinical Competency assessment required within 3 months of hire and every three years
• High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and annually
• Minimum 2 years of general nursing experience, with at least 1 year in ambulatory or urgent care settings

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (eligible for NCLEX)
• High school diploma or equivalent

• Patient assessment, triage and clinical decision-making
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills
• EMR proficiency and accurate clinical documentation
• Infection control and clinic safety practices
• Customer service and professional communication with diverse populations
• Time management, multitasking and the ability to work under pressure
• Ability to follow standing orders and collaborate with providers
