Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for ICU patients, maintaining safe patient ratios (2:1 or 3:1)
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond quickly to changes in patient status
• Manage ventilators and support advanced respiratory care including CPAP/BiPAP
• Perform or assist with unit procedures such as therapeutic phlebotomy and physician-led paracentesis
• Deliver safe central line care, blood transfusions, chest tube and NG tube management
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech Expanse
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, clinical nurse coordinators, and providers to optimize patient outcomes
• Support unit culture by participating in patient/staff recognition and quality initiatives

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (compact accepted where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• BLS and ACLS required; NIH certification required and must be renewed annually
• Comfortable with ventilator management, telemetry monitoring, and advanced ICU procedures
• Experience with Meditech Expanse or similar electronic documentation systems preferred
• Able to work rotating 12-hour night shifts and float to other units as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ICU workflow
• Telemetry monitoring (Philips Telemetry experience helpful)
• Ventilator management and advanced respiratory support (CPAP/BiPAP)
• Central line care, blood transfusion protocols, and post-dialysis assessment
• Chest tube, NG tube, wound VAC, and drain management
• Therapeutic phlebotomy and familiarity with physician-led procedures like paracentesis
• Proficiency with Meditech Expanse for documentation
