Roles & Responsibilities

Lead the implementation and maintenance of the internal risk management program to keep patients safe and the organization compliant
Investigate, evaluate, and report adverse incidents in accordance with AK statutes and regulatory requirements
Coordinate and facilitate disclosure and follow-up with patients, families, and care teams after incidents
Direct and support Patient Safety Rounds, RCAs, and FMEAs to drive system-based improvements
Provide risk management and patient safety education across departments and mentor staff on best practices
Collaborate with Medical Directors, CMO, and corporate counsel on peer review, quality-of-care, and risk issues
Perform chart audits, clinical reviews, and data support to assist accreditation and quality initiatives
Monitor regulatory standards (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF) and ensure organizational compliance through process improvements

Qualifications

Current, full, unrestricted, active Registered Nursing license in Alaska required (agency staff must have active AK license; direct hire must have applied before start date)
CPHRM certification required within two (2) years
Clinical competency demonstration required within 3 months and every 3 years thereafter
Minimum 3 years experience in monitoring risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
Proven leadership in facilitating cross-functional teams and driving collaborative change

Knowledge & Skills

Risk management and patient safety principles
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Regulatory compliance (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF)
Incident investigation and adverse event disclosure
Quality improvement methodologies and accreditation support
Chart audits, clinical reviews, and data-informed decision making
Clinical competency assessment and staff education
Leadership, collaboration, and professional communication across clinical teams
