Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients in the acute care hospital setting to identify rehabilitation needs
• Develop and implement individualized care plans that improve function and safety
• Use evidence-based procedures and therapeutic techniques to change patient condition
• Supervise and coordinate therapeutic care with PTAs, OTs, rehab techs and nursing staff
• Document patient progress and treatment plans in Cerner PowerChart accurately and timely
• Communicate evaluation results, goals and discharge plans clearly to patients, families and the care team

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina license to practice Physical Therapy (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• At least 1–2 years acute care experience preferred (orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary experience helpful)
• Comfort and experience using patient lifting equipment (SARA+, Stedy, Maximove) and mobility aids
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with Cerner PowerChart

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in acute care patient evaluation and care planning
• Skilled in orthopedics, neurology and cardiopulmonary rehab techniques
• Experience with inpatient documentation workflows (Cerner PowerChart)
• Ability to work 1:1 with patients in single-room settings
• Familiarity with patient lifting systems, gait belts and safe transfer techniques
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
