Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert labor and delivery nursing care for high-acuity obstetric patients
• Serve as scrub or circulating nurse in C-sections and assist surgical teams as needed
• Manage IV drips (including magnesium infusions) and titrate medications safely
• Support epidural and spinal procedures and monitor patients closely post-procedure
• Collaborate with the Level III NICU and PACU teams to ensure seamless patient transitions
• Document patient care accurately using Meditech and CPN systems
• Float within the women’s and children’s service line as staffing needs require
• Contribute to a positive patient experience through compassionate, competent care

Qualifications

• Current RN license (eligible to practice in Virginia)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with L&D experience preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications required
• Experience in OR scrub/circulating roles and assisting with C-sections highly desirable
• Comfort with high-acuity obstetrics, IV management (including magnesium drips), epidurals and spinals
• Familiarity with Meditech and CPN documentation systems
• Ability to float within women’s and children’s service line and work collaboratively

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery best practices and high-acuity obstetric care
• C-section circulation and OR scrub techniques
• IV therapy and medication titration (including magnesium infusions)
• Epidural and spinal perioperative monitoring
• Documentation proficiency with Meditech and CPN
• PACU familiarity and Level III NICU collaboration
• Strong assessment, prioritization and communication skills in fast-paced units
