Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical education to long-term care staff across Sitka and Wrangell
• Partner with clinical leaders to create and standardize clinical competencies that meet policy and accreditation standards
• Design, select, and implement curriculum and training programs using adult learning principles
• Support and coordinate preceptorships, student clinical experiences, and onboarding for new staff
• Participate in evidence-based research to improve nursing practice, professional development, and patient outcomes
• Serve as a liaison for clinical education opportunities across the consortium and contribute to cross-team projects
• Evaluate educational activities and competency assessments to ensure effectiveness and compliance
• Promote organizational standards and ensure educational activities align with mission and goals

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing (required)
• Current, full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state (required); direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
• BLS Instructor certification preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Clinical Competency Assessment (SEARHC) required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter
• Minimum 2 years clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be replaced with supervisory experience)
• Minimum 5 years professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
• Supervisory experience preferred

Education

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of professional nursing principles, LTC care, and geriatric patient needs
• Experience developing and evaluating evidence-based standards of care and training modalities
• Skilled in curriculum development, competency standardization, and adult education methods
• High quality oral and written communication skills
• Familiarity with education delivery tools including Microsoft Teams, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
• Ability to implement and evaluate educational programs, run skills fairs, and track competency compliance
• Policy and accreditation compliance awareness and attention to detail
• Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
