Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Plant Operations, Environmental Services (EVS), Maintenance and Grounds to ensure safe, reliable facility operations
- Supervise approximately 45 FTEs both directly and indirectly, setting clear expectations and coaching for performance
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and ensure equipment and systems are serviced according to manufacturer recommendations
- Direct maintenance of utility systems (heat, steam, electric, gas, oxygen) to support continuous facility operation and patient care
- Inspect machines and equipment to ensure operational standards and regulatory compliance
- Ensure contractors comply with hospital policies and applicable regulatory agencies
- Serve as liaison to other departments to assess needs and develop actionable plans to meet facility requirements
- Maintain compliance with NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS and local building and fire codes
- Develop training plans, customer-service expectations, and follow up on employee and customer concerns in a timely manner
- Apply engineering principles to detect, diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment or systems
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of personnel management experience
- Thorough knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC and general building maintenance
- Experience with autoclaving, bio-waste handling, life safety codes and construction phasing
- Proven ability to apply engineering principles to troubleshoot and repair equipment
- Demonstrated leadership skills managing multi-discipline teams in a healthcare or large-facility environment
- Willingness to relocate to a rural area (required)
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred (Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field)

- Facilities management and plant operations expertise
- Preventive maintenance program development and execution
- Regulatory compliance: NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS and local codes
- HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operation and general building systems
- Environmental Services (EVS) operations and bio-waste management
- Budgeting, contractor oversight and project coordination
- Strong communication, training development and customer-service orientation
- Leadership and staff development for multi-discipline teams
