Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive sonographic examinations (abdominal, OB/GYN and other requested exams) for diagnostic interpretation
• Exercise professional judgment and apply radiation protection principles during procedures
• Maintain accurate patient records, paperwork, and neat work areas to support clinical care
• Care for transducers and manage the Trophon station to ensure equipment readiness
• Participate in departmental quality assurance and accreditation activities
• Transfer patients safely to and from imaging and assist with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures
• Pursue continuing education and support department policy and procedure development
• Step into supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the manager and assist with ancillary duties as requested

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association required
• Ability to perform diagnostic exams related to assigned modality (AB/OB experience preferred)
• Willingness to rotate shifts and travel to provide services across SEARHC sites as needed
• Desire to pursue additional RDMS/ARDMS categories and continued professional development

Education

• ARDMS certification in one modality required; additional RDMS certifications encouraged
• Ongoing continuing education to meet radiology and RDMS requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Diagnostic medical sonography skills including abdominal and OB/GYN exams
• Transducer care and maintenance, including Trophon station familiarity
• Quality assurance and documentation best practices
• Patient-centered care and safe patient transfer techniques
• Familiarity with vascular and cardiac ultrasound is a plus
• Comfort working across the lifespan from newborn to geriatric patients
