Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to MSICU patients, monitoring condition and responding to changes quickly
• Manage advanced airway care and ventilator settings in coordination with the care team
• Perform and assist with critical procedures including intubations, chest tubes, central and arterial line management
• Administer and titrate complex medication drips safely and document all interventions
• Accurately document patient care and orders using Meditech charting and order entry
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary staff to create and execute patient-centered plans
• Adhere to unit guidelines including badging in/out, full 30-minute lunch, and punctuality expectations
• Float to other units when required, following the Methodist Floating Policy

Qualifications

• Active TX RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• ACLS and BLS certifications
• NIH Stroke Certification required
• Minimum 2-3 years of ICU experience (MSICU/MICU background preferred)
• Experience with Meditech charting and order entry preferred
• Comfortable performing/assisting with chest tubes, trachs, intubations, central/arterial lines, NG tubes, and Foley catheters

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment in high-acuity settings
• Hands-on MSICU/MICU skills and familiarity with ICU procedures
• Proficient documentation and order entry in Meditech
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm under pressure
• Attention to attendance, punctuality, and unit-specific policies
