Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to progressive care unit (PCU) patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and communicate changes to the care team
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized nursing plans
• Administer medications and IV therapy safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, unit staff, and allied health professionals for coordinated care
• Educate patients and families on condition, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Document patient status and interventions clearly and timely in the electronic medical record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license for practice in North Carolina (compact license holders accepted per facility policy)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience (PCU/step-down or telemetry preferred)
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and other specialty certifications preferred
• Strong cardiac monitoring and telemetry experience
• Comfortable with IV medication administration and titratable drips
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in telemetry interpretation and PCU-level patient monitoring
• Skilled in patient assessment, stabilization, and escalation of care
• Experience with electronic medical records and clear clinical documentation
• Strong medication administration and IV therapy competencies
• Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams
• Critical thinking and time management for complex patient caseloads
