Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operating room environment using strict sterile technique
• Inspect, clean, and set up surgical instruments and equipment prior to procedures
• Assemble and obtain supplies and specialized instruments needed for each case
• Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning and sterile draping as directed
• Assist the surgeon by anticipating instrument needs and passing instruments accurately
• Support turnover by cleaning and restocking the operating room after cases
• Perform instrument sterilization procedures and verify readiness for use
• Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to ensure patient safety

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist credential from a nationally accredited organization (required)
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military training
• Ability to work under RN supervision and follow sterile/aseptic protocol
• Prior experience in an operating room setting preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent plus completion of a nationally accredited Surgical Technologist program
• Or completion of an approved surgical technology training program in U.S. military service
• Or documented prior employment as a Surgical Technologist as described in client requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and instrument handling
• Aseptic and sterile technique mastery for operative environments
• Operating room setup and turnover procedures
• Patient preparation and positioning for a variety of surgical procedures
• Ability to inspect and maintain surgical equipment and supplies
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical team and communicating clearly
