Roles & Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver safe, patient-centered emergency care
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments following approved nursing techniques and state practice acts
• Perform thorough patient assessments, develop individualized plans of care, and evaluate outcomes
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in accordance with standards of care
• Provide patient and family instruction to support recovery and continuity of care
• Participate in performance improvement activities and unit-based governance to advance clinical practice
• Escalate safety concerns and clinical changes through the appropriate chain of command to protect patient wellbeing
• Provide clinical expertise and guidance to support the patient’s longitudinal plan of care across units

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN licensure required
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; education verification required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• TNCC or TNS required (one or the other)
• Previous experience working in an emergency department is preferred
• Strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills
