Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' mobility, strength, and functional needs to guide care
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with measurable goals
- Deliver therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility interventions
- Document progress clearly and timely in the patient record
- Educate patients and families on home programs and safe mobility techniques
- Collaborate with PTs, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes
- Maintain equipment and ensure a safe treatment environment
Qualifications
- Active PTA licensure in New Mexico or eligibility to obtain state licensure
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Associate level)
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Comfortable working the listed daily schedule (Sun–Sat, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM)
- Agencies must have a New Mexico caregivers account (per job notes)
- Clinical experience in outpatient or rehab settings preferred (1+ year preferred)
Education
- Associate Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant (from an accredited PTA program)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and functional mobility evaluation
- Therapeutic exercise prescription and progression
- Gait training and assistive device education
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Infection control, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance
- Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration
