Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care to mental health patients as an MA/CNA
• Assist mental health clinicians with exams, screenings, and clinical procedures
• Take and record vital signs, monitor patients, and report changes promptly
• Document patient encounters accurately and maintain clear clinical records
• Support safety protocols and follow facility procedures while working in a correctional setting
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to help deliver high-quality mental health services
• Prepare treatment areas and ensure equipment and supplies are ready for patient care

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (MA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required
• Experience or interest in mental health care preferred
• Ability to work in a correctional facility (High Desert State Prison) and follow institutional policies
• Must be able to start within 3 weeks as noted in the request
• Reliable, professional communication and comfortable working in a team environment

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Current MA or CNA certification as required by the position

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical patient care skills relevant to MA/CNA roles
• Basic assessment skills including taking vital signs and observing patient status
• Familiarity with mental health patient interactions and de-escalation mindset
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Attention to safety, infection control, and facility protocols
