Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement physical therapy treatment plans under the direction of the supervising PT to help patients regain mobility and independence
• Guide and assist patients through therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional activities with safety and encouragement
• Monitor and document patient progress, responses to treatment, and any changes in condition in a clear, timely manner
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity across shifts
• Prepare and maintain treatment areas and equipment to meet infection control and safety standards
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and strategies to support recovery

Qualifications

• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in California
• Completion of an accredited PTA program (Associate degree or equivalent)
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Comfortable working a day shift schedule across all days of the week for the duration of the 14-week contract
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a rehab team
• Prior experience in inpatient rehabilitation or post-acute settings is a plus

Education

• Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (or equivalent)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic exercise techniques, modalities, and mobility training
• Skilled in patient assessment, safe handling, and fall prevention strategies
• Proficient documentation skills and familiarity with clinical charting best practices
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to varied caseloads
• Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills to motivate patients
