Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals in the mental health department
• Perform routine clinical tasks such as taking vitals, administering basic treatments, and assisting providers
• Support the clinical team with accurate and timely documentation in patient records
• Help coordinate patient flow and ensure a safe, secure environment within the facility
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members
• Assist with infection control, medication passes as trained, and other duties as assigned to support care delivery

Qualifications

• Current Medical Assistant certification or Certified Nursing Assistant credential required
• Experience or comfort working in a mental health setting preferred
• Ability to start within 3 weeks as noted in the job requirements
• Willingness to work in a correctional healthcare environment and follow facility security protocols
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or CNA program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in taking and recording vital signs and basic clinical assessments
• Good clinical documentation and charting practices
• Familiarity with mental health patient interactions and de-escalation techniques
• Basic infection control and universal precautions knowledge
• Strong interpersonal skills and professional bedside manner
