Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver skilled therapeutic interventions and assist the supervising Physical Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans
• Provide hands-on therapeutic exercise, gait training, mobility assistance, and functional re-training to help patients meet meaningful goals
• Monitor and document patient progress accurately and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary care team
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety techniques, and activity modification to support lasting outcomes
• Set up and maintain treatment areas and equipment to ensure patient safety and an efficient workflow
• Collaborate with nurses, aides, and other rehab staff to coordinate care and optimize patient experience

Qualifications

• Current PTA license or certification in the state of Maine, or ability to obtain state licensure promptly
• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a patient-centered approach
• Ability to work a 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM schedule across all days of the week as required by the facility

Education

• Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in therapeutic exercise techniques, gait training, and functional mobility interventions
• Comfortable with patient documentation, outcome measurement, and electronic medical records
• Skilled at patient education, motivational coaching, and discharge planning support
• Strong teamwork, time management, and infection control practices
• Adaptability to different patient populations and fast-paced clinical environments
