Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders to improve patients' communication and safety
• Conduct thorough initial evaluations and create clear, patient-centered plans of care
• Document care comprehensively: progress reports, plans of care, and discharge documentation
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, dietitians and other providers to coordinate best care
• Provide patient, family and staff education, including creating in-service presentations
• Contact insurance to verify benefits and help patients navigate coverage
• Perform clinic preparation and clean treatment rooms to maintain a safe environment
• Make reminder calls and support patient navigation to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field (preferred)
• Active or eligible for Wisconsin SLP licensure
• ASHA CCC-SLP credential preferred or equivalent clinical experience
• Experience with dysphagia management and speech-language assessment
• Comfortable with hospital clinical environment and interprofessional collaboration
• Strong documentation skills and experience with initial evaluations and plans of care

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or related graduate degree)

Knowledge & Skills

• Speech-language assessment and treatment planning
• Dysphagia assessment and swallowing/feeding management
• Clinical documentation: evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries
• Patient and family education and care coordination
• Ability to create and deliver in-service presentations for staff
• Familiarity with insurance benefits coordination and hospital workflows
