Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate patient care and assist with intake, vitals, and basic clinical tasks for mental health patients
• Support clinicians and nursing staff during assessments and treatment activities
• Document patient interactions and clinical data accurately in the medical record
• Maintain a safe, secure environment in accordance with facility and correctional protocols
• Assist with medication pass under supervision and follow provider instructions closely
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the care team to promote continuity of care
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment and participate in shift handoffs and briefings

Qualifications

• Current Medical Assistant (MA) certification or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential
• Experience or interest in mental health settings preferred
• Able to start within 3 weeks (target start date 2026-05-18)
• Willingness to work in a correctional facility (HDSP - High Desert State Prison) and comply with required screenings and facility protocols
• Reliable, professional, and able to work Monday-Friday daytime schedule

Education

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Certified Nursing Assistant program
• High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable taking vitals and performing basic clinical procedures
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
• Good communication and de-escalation skills for mental health settings
• Team-oriented with the ability to follow clinical direction
• Familiarity with infection control and basic safety practices
