Roles & Responsibilities

• Process, decontaminate, inspect, assemble and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment to ready them for procedures
• Ensure strict adherence to infection control and sterilization protocols to protect patients and staff
• Perform quality checks and document sterilization cycles and instrument tracking accurately
• Collaborate with operating room and clinical teams to ensure timely availability of instruments
• Maintain inventory, restock sterile supplies, and support efficient workflow in the sterile processing department
• Participate in continuous quality improvement and compliance activities to maintain high standards of care
• Communicate proactively about instrument issues, equipment maintenance needs, and workflow improvements

Qualifications

• Certified Sterile Processing Technician required prior to the start of the contract
• Proven competency in sterile processing procedures and instrument handling
• Willingness and ability to work rotating 8-hour shifts and consecutive weekends as needed
• Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow strict protocols
• Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude when working with clinical teams
• Ability to stand for extended periods and manage a physically active role in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of sterilization and decontamination methods and best practices
• Familiarity with instrument inspection, assembly, and packaging techniques
• Experience with sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and sterilizers
• Understanding of infection prevention and aseptic technique
• Comfort using instrument tracking systems and maintaining accurate documentation
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure
