Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality intermediate cardiac care for CVU patients, including post-surgical and downgraded CVICU cases
• Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry strips and act on clinical changes
• Safely titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive medications according to protocols
• Collaborate with cardiology, cath lab, EP teams, respiratory therapy, and remote tele techs to coordinate patient care
• Perform focused assessments and manage common diagnoses such as CHF, A fib with RVR, CVA, and post-procedural care
• Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC to maintain continuity of care
• Float to units of same or lower acuity as needed while maintaining patient safety and standards
• Participate in unit orientation, skills validation, and competency assessments

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit in Nebraska or as appropriate per facility rules)
• Current BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of experience caring for cardiac/stepdown patient population (posting notes up to 2 years preferred)
• Demonstrated experience with telemetry interpretation and IV medication/drip titration
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Valid driver’s license required at submittal to confirm radius eligibility
• Willingness to complete orientation assessments and achieve required competency benchmarks (90% pass on open-book skills exam)

Education

• Active RN license
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Titration of cardiac drips including amiodarone, nitro, nicardipine, epinephrine, diltiazem and other vasoactive meds
• Experience supporting cath lab, EP and structural heart patients
• Basic respiratory support knowledge including BiPAP and CPAP troubleshooting
• Ability to collaborate with remote telemetry technicians and multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record documentation
• Strong assessment skills for intermediate/stepdown cardiac patients
