Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate critical care to adult and adolescent patients (>15 years) in a fast-paced tertiary ICU
• Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry and hemodynamic data, responding quickly to changes
• Troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory equipment and support respiratory therapists as needed
• Titrate vasopressors, sedatives, paralytics and other drips safely and according to protocol
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, fellows and residents to develop and implement care plans
• Attend and actively participate in RRTs and Codes when assigned
• Document clinical care accurately in EPIC and support unit-level quality initiatives
• Mentor peers and students, contributing to a team environment that prioritizes patient safety and learning

Qualifications

• Active RN license appropriate for practice in Nebraska (license to submit required)
• Minimum 2 years recent ICU (critical care) experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications and NIHSS certification required
• Driver's license required at time of submission (used to verify 50-mile radius compliance)
• Ability to pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a required score of 90%
• Comfort with titration of drips, telemetry interpretation, and critical thinking under pressure
• Willingness to float to other inpatient units (excluding Maternity/NICU) as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ICU protocols
• Telemetry reading and interpretation (Draeger monitoring systems)
• Ventilator troubleshooting and basic respiratory support
• Titration of vasopressors, sedatives, paralytics and other drips
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Experience or comfort with advanced modalities (CRRT, ICP monitoring, EV-1000) is a plus
• Ability to work in a high-volume, tertiary care environment with multidisciplinary teams
