Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert pre-, intra-, and post-procedure nursing care for angiography and cardiac catheterization patients
• Perform thorough pre-procedure assessments, administer pre-medication, and document the cath process clearly
• Scrub in and assist physicians during interventional and diagnostic procedures to ensure safe, efficient care
• Monitor sedation and hemodynamics in accordance with hospital policy and escalate issues promptly
• Operate and troubleshoot cardiac monitoring equipment, pacemaker/ICD devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps and defibrillators
• Apply and manage Holter, event and ambulatory blood pressure monitors and perform pacemaker interrogations
• Insert PICC lines and serve as a vascular access resource to meet patient needs
• Document all pertinent procedure and recovery information and contribute to cardiovascular education materials

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license (LARA or Nursys verification required)
• Cath Lab RN experience required
• Current American Heart Association ACLS certification (required)
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification (required)
• Interventional Radiology experience preferred
• At least 1 year of Electrophysiology experience preferred
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and intra-aortic balloon pump knowledge preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Current skills checklist (within 1 year) for Cath Lab (required document)
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years (required)
• Candidates must provide permanent address; facility will not consider local candidates within a 50-mile radius

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac catheterization nursing and angiography expertise
• Pre/post-procedure assessment and patient education
• Sedation monitoring and hemodynamic monitoring
• Pacemaker/ICD management and pacemaker interrogation
• Scrubbing in and assisting during cardiac and interventional procedures
• Stress testing, transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and echocardiogram support
• PICC insertion and vascular access skills
• Familiarity with intra-aortic balloon pump operation and advanced cardiac equipment
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record
• Holter/event/ambulatory BP monitor application and troubleshooting
