Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Support mobility and fall-prevention efforts while encouraging independence
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Accurately document care and observations in the patient record
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to deliver personalized care plans
- Maintain infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Current state Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or Nursing Assistant certification (required)
- CPR/BLS certification (current) preferred or required per facility policy
- Experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is highly valued
- Strong interpersonal skills and a patient, compassionate approach
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of a state-approved nursing assistant program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common chronic conditions
- Familiarity with infection control practices and safety standards
- Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, assisting with ADLs, safe transfer techniques
- Good documentation skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
