Roles & Responsibilities
- Supervise daily nursing operations of the assigned unit to ensure high-quality resident care
- Lead and mentor Team Leaders and nursing staff, providing clear expectations and coaching
- Oversee infection control surveillance rounds and ensure compliance with HIPAA and safety policies
- Coordinate discharge planning with Social Services and assist in developing resident-centered plans
- Monitor and ensure accurate Medicare, MMQ, progress note, and wound documentation
- Manage supply oversight and ordering in collaboration with Team Leaders to maintain unit readiness
- Participate in audits, survey inspections, committee meetings, and quality assurance initiatives
- Conduct daily rounds, physician rounding support, and timely communication of resident status
- Assist in staff orientation, competency testing, performance evaluations, and hiring interviews
- Make independent clinical decisions as needed, including starting IVs and administering IV meds
Qualifications
- Active nursing license required (Registered Nurse preferred)
- Experience supervising and leading nursing staff in an acute or long-term care setting
- Proven ability to manage documentation standards including Medicare and MMQ processes
- Comfortable leading infection control, wound care oversight, and quality assurance activities
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with physicians, Social Services, and families
- Ability to participate in and lead unit meetings, in-services, and staff development programs
Education
- Nursing degree (ADN or BSN preferred) or equivalent clinical nursing education
- Ongoing continuing education to maintain active nursing license
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in nursing supervision, patient assessment, and medication administration
- Knowledge of infection control practices, wound care, and IV therapy
- Proficient with clinical documentation, discharge planning, and HIPAA compliance
- Experienced in staff development, competency testing, and staffing/scheduling
- Familiarity with quality assurance processes, inventory management, and fiscal oversight
