Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients across the age continuum using sound clinical judgment
• Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using the Nursing Process
• Delegate and supervise patient care activities for nurses and support staff
• Serve as Charge Nurse when needed: coordinate assignments, assists with admits/discharges/transfers, and help problem-solve
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Provide patient and family education to support safe transitions and positive outcomes
• Prioritize and organize workload using critical thinking and crisis management skills
• Maintain safety and infection control standards and participate in unit-level quality improvement

Qualifications

• Current Washington State RN licensure
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• BLS (Healthcare Provider) required within 30 days of hire
• ACLS to be obtained within 6 months of hire and renewed every 2 years
• PALS to be obtained within 12 months of hire and renewed every 2 years
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) to be obtained within 12 months of hire and renewed every 4 years
• Moderate sedation training to be completed within 12 months of hire and annually thereafter
• CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) preferred
• Minimum of one year RN experience preferred for specialty nursing departments; acute care experience preferred
• Ability to meet physical requirements of ED shifts (prolonged standing/walking, safe patient handling, and ability to perform CPR)

Education

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and outcome evaluation
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation proficiency
• Delegation, supervision, and team coordination
• Critical thinking and crisis management in acute settings
• Infection control, safety practices, and equipment competency
• Patient and family education with strong communication skills
• Ability to function effectively as a Charge Nurse and lead a unit when required
