Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on occupational therapy support to patients under the direction of an OTR
- Assist in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that promote independence
- Lead therapeutic activities and practice functional tasks to improve activities of daily living
- Document patient progress clearly and timely in the patient record
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and share insights
- Educate patients and families on home strategies and adaptive techniques to support recovery
Qualifications
- Active COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) credential required
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or obtained upon hire
- Demonstrated ability to provide patient-centered care with strong communication skills
- Comfortable working in a team-based rehabilitation environment and following OTR direction
- Ability to meet facility requirements for licensure/registration and background checks
Education
- Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (Associate degree or equivalent) preferred
- Graduation from a COTA program or equivalent training required for certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of therapeutic techniques for ADLs and functional mobility
- Skilled in activity adaptation, adaptive equipment recommendations, and task grading
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with clinical record-keeping best practices
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage patients and collaborate with a care team
- Ability to follow care plans, measure progress, and adjust interventions as directed
