Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions as a COTA to support patient goals
- Collaborate with OTs, PTs, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to create cohesive care plans
- Document patient progress and treatment plans clearly and timely in the medical record
- Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques and home program strategies
- Adapt therapeutic activities to meet each patient’s functional needs and safety requirements
- Participate in discharge planning and communicate recommendations to the care team
- Maintain treatment equipment and ensure a safe therapy environment
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
- California state licensure/registration or eligibility to obtain licensure in CA
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
- Ability to provide care with compassion, strong communication skills, and teamwork mindset
- Comfort working in varied clinical settings and adapting to changing schedules
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (Associate degree or diploma)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of occupational therapy assessment and intervention techniques
- Skilled in therapeutic activity planning and ADL training
- Proficient documentation and care-plan communication
- Ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team
- Time management and caseload prioritization skills
- Familiarity with common assistive devices and adaptive equipment
