Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry continuously to detect and respond to dysrhythmias promptly
- Manage IV insulin and heparin protocols safely and accurately
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips per protocol, and supervise blood product administration
- Provide PCU/Stepdown level care including tracheostomy management and non-invasive airway support (CPAP/BIPAP, oxygen, HFNC)
- Perform wound care and manage wound vac therapy with attention to healing and patient comfort
- Support rapid response and code teams as needed, using strong assessment and emergency response skills
- Document care thoroughly in EPIC so the care team stays coordinated and patients receive seamless transitions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary services (Respiratory, PT, Pharmacy, Social Work, Radiology) to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (MS/Tele, Telemetry, PCU/Stepdown or ER observation/holding noted in work history required)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS and PALS required/preferred as listed
- Experience with telemetry and dysrhythmia management at a 1:4 patient ratio
- Familiarity with Epic documentation (preferred)
- Comfort managing renal failure issues including pre/post hemodialysis care and continuous bladder irrigation when indicated
- Experience with trach care, chest tubes, feeding tube management, and blood product administration
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- IV therapy management including insulin and heparin protocols
- Titration and monitoring of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Tracheostomy care and non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC)
- Wound care and wound vac management
- Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- Familiarity with LVAD/RVAD care considerations
- EPIC documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
